American Chemical Society (ACS) released some chemical facts highlight why the consumption of chocolate in moderation good for your health.
Largest scientific organization in the world was released in the form of a video Bytesize Science. In the video, ACS describes how a bar of chocolate can contain hundreds of compounds and many favorable properties.
In fact, chocolate can improve your mood, and not just have a delicious flavor. Chocolate also contains a number of chemicals that inhibit damage to the neurotransmitter anandamide, or so-called "happiness molecule", which can block pain and depression.
Chocolate also contains caffeine and theobromine, a stimulant that can give you a burst of energy.
According to an article from the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry owned by ACS, natural polyphenols in cocoa (the main ingredient in chocolate) can increase levels of HDL, commonly known as "good cholesterol".
Be sure to choose the type of dark chocolate containing the highest percentage of cocoa powder to get all the benefits of antioxidants.
